As well as classical music more modern music is available
with new clubs and bars opening up everywhere. Details of
what's on during your visit is best discovered from the magazines
Where Budapest *(you’ll get a copy in your hotel) or
in the “Budapest Sun”, another
English language publication. Finally “Budapest in your
pocket” also lists out events.
When buying tickets in advance, it’s better to go to one of the commission-free state-run ticket offices than to the individual box offices. Schedules are posted, and you'll have a variety of choices. Budapest has about a dozen casinos. A number of English-language movies are always playing in Budapest. Many bars and clubs are open until very late. There is no legal age limit to enter a club, although under eighteens may not be able to buy alcohol. There is a large number of quality restaurants, the smaller traditional ones can work out to be very cheap.
